Skydiving Gear and Accessories
Before you go skydiving, you might want to learn about the equipment and gear you will need for skydiving. Of course you need access to the air - meaning you'll need to find a way to catch a ride up to jump level. Besides an airplane, you will need a good helmet for obvious reasons. The helmet is designed to protect your head; both from bumping it on the airplane and being struck by another person in freefall and finally,in the event you tumble on land.
An altimeter is another piece of equipment you’ll need to determine your altitude so you know when to activate your parachute.
Goggles will be needed to preserve your vision from the high-speed air rushing up at you.
Jumpsuits are also recommended. They protect your body on landing and allow you to control your fall speed. There are different-sized jumpsuits for different-sized people. Consult someone before you get a jumpsuit so you can be sure to get the best one for your weight. Stabilization is very important in freefall and a good jumpsuit will allow you to control the speed at which you fall and the movements you are able to make in freefall.
You will certainly need a pair of closed-toed shoes, usually tennis shoes, running shoes, or cross-training shoes. Boots are not recommended, nor are sandals or any open-toed shoe.
